6. The Flowers
Locally grown flowers not only give a personal touch, but also reduce the need to ship in flowers from exotic locations. Because trucks do not have to drive the flowers to your location, the footprint of your big day is reduced once again. Another option is to have centerpieces and bouquets of silk flowers that you can sell to family or on eBay after your big day. Organic flowers are always a good choice too, and the flowers are always donatable after the reception to a local nursing home, for example.
7. The Gifts
Instead of having a gift registry, encourage your guests to donate money to the charities or non-profit organizations of your choice. Whether it is an environmental group or not, I am sure your choice to donate will be greatly appreciated.
