More eco-friendly wedding tips

More on an eco-friendly wedding…

3. The Venue
Choose and environmentally friendly location, especially if you are not planning on having your wedding at a traditional religious location. An event based at a venue that requires little decoration cuts down on waste, such as a garden, castle or museum. Choosing one that also recycles is a good option as well.
4. The Transportation
Another great way to reduce your environmental impact on the big day is to use a form of group transportation. Have your guests carpool from similar locations, or if you’re feeling very eco-friendly, shuttles (ones that run on biodiesel are even better) are a great way to accommodate guests and lower your footprint. The best way to set an example though: arrive in an electric car! Try and keep your reception and wedding venue close, or even in the same location to reduce travel impact.
5. The Party Favors
Party favors at a green wedding should be personal, eco-friendly, and memorable. Favors such as potted plants or re-plantable trees will give back to the earth and help your guests remember your wedding as the years pass. The Knot has a great shop with unique and eco-friendly wedding favors.

An Eco-Friendly Wedding Part I

As green products and events gain popularity, eco-friendly weddings have also. Green weddings are environmentally responsible and have become much easier to implement. Brides -to -be have many options to turn their weddings into a green affair. We’ve created a list to help give you ideas on where to start and show you it’s not as hard as you think to have a green wedding. Keep checking in for additional tips on how to green your wedding.

1. The Dress
The first (and most important) aspect is always the dress. Here at Laura’s Couture we are happy to carry the eco couture bridal line by Adele Wechlser. Using many environmentally friendly materials, the bride can choose to wear green while wearing white. One common misconception is that idea that all environmentally friendly gowns will be made from hemp. There are actually many different fabrics and according to Jessica Bacon, dresses can be made out of recycled, vintage and remnant fabrics including bamboo, organic cotton, peace silk, hemp, soy knit, silk, and hempcel.

2. The Menu
Probably the most popular eco-friendly choice by couples when planning their wedding is an organic or locally grown menu for guests. Be careful to plan according to the number of guests that are in attendance so you do not end up wasting a lot of food. Organically grown foods are better for your health, and a menu featuring locally grown products cuts down on the economic harm done by trucks transporting food. Also, organic cocktails are widely available for those guests who enjoy a celebratory drink.
